Children under the age of seven years are welcomed into life in Christ and the Christian community through the sacrament of Baptism.  Families are encouraged to contact the parish office as soon as possible when expecting a child, or shortly after their birth to secure availability of your preferred date/time. Baptism Registration Form must be completed and submitted prior to the scheduling of the sacrament.

Each child to be baptized must have at least one godparent. The godparent must be at least 16 years of age and have fulfilled all three sacraments of initiation-Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATES FROM THE PARISH OF RECORD, WITH NOTATIONS, FOR GODPARENTS MUST BE SENT TO ST. JOHN PAUL II PRIOR TO BAPTISM. Also, it is expected the godparent be an active Catholic in good standing. An ACTIVE form, is required to be filled out by godparent’s home pastor, with his signature. A second godparent, who meets the same qualifications as the first, is desirable. If there is a second godparent, each gender must be represented. At least one godparent must present at the time of the Baptism.

Section Break

It is necessary for parents to attend a Baptism preparation workshop prior to the Baptism. Schedule with the parish office. Both parents are highly encouraged to attend and are welcome to bring children with them, if needed. Godparents are encouraged to attend as well.

Once perspective godparents are registered, they will be sent a Certificate of Eligibility to be signed by their parish priest.
